Granny's Rolls with Spunky Hollow Cream |
What’s up guys,
I hope your week is starting out with a bang! I have some
good news for you if the plan is for you to cook on Easter Sunday! I have put
together a “pop in the oven” Easter Menu with special prices to help you spend
a little more time just enjoying the Holiday and your families. You are
officially 45 minutes (and a 375 degree oven) away from Kairos Delicious
Goodness on your Dinner Table this Easter. I’ve loaded the menu up with all
your favorites like Glazed Ham, Granny’s Rolls, and Mee-Maw’s Chicken &
Dressing. I’ve also added some new favorites like my Roasted Pork Tips, Bacon
Mac N Cheese, Banana Kobbler, and our bright and delicious Easter Cupcakes! I
hope you guys enjoy the results and if you have any questions call Denise at
205-410-3220 or e-mail denise@kairoskatering.com
The Specials this week have me excited! Particularly The
Taco Station has me happy, happy, happy! I am having so much fun coming up with
new ways to wrap delicious goodness into a warm flour tortilla. It seems as if
the possibilities are endless and the feedback I’m getting from some of you is
very encouraging. I personally think the secret weapon is in the sauces. The
Greek Taco is slathered in Cool Greek Sauce that is my version of Tzatziki
Sauce, and it contrasts so fine with the spiciness of the chicken... The Jones
Sauce is what does it for The Fish Taco and The Burger Taco, and on the
Southern Fried Taco we give you a choice! I am excited to see what new ones I
can create, and I’m open to your suggestions. Kairos is actually Katering The
Rehearsal Dinner for me and my Miss, and at first I planned on doing Italian,
but now we have decided on doing Kairos Gourmet Tacos. I think it’s going to be
a big hit! The Southern Fried Broccoli is also rising in popularity. I don’t
think we have ever sold so much or received as many accolades as we have in the
past few weeks! These little fried bites of delicious goodness also go well
with The Taco’s! Take advantage of the Coupon this week and come see us at
Kairos! And we look forward to handling your Katering needs as well!
This week I was talking with a dear friend who is having
problems with one of her teenage sons. From time to time people may ask
questions about my early life because they are searching for their own answers,
and I am always eager to make myself vulnerable as long as it is done in the
right spirit and seems redemptive. I told my friend that my chief problem as a
young man was rejection. I never remember living in the house with my Dad and I
was very close to my Step-Dad who pretty much raised me and treated me as his
own son from the time I was two. But at the age of 11 my Mom and Step-Dad went
through a terrible divorce that split our family and at that age for all
intents and purposes I found myself Fatherless. I always loved my Dad but we
never really had a relationship where we connected well. And like I said, some
of that came from never living in the house with him. That was the age that I
started getting into “Trouble”. I didn’t understand it at the time, and
probably couldn’t have if you had told me, but what Jesus taught me later on in
life was that the root of my problems were the result of being rejected... by
my Dad... by my Step-Dad... and then the kids in the new school I attended when
my Mom moved us to the huge Metropolis of Phenix City, Alabama, which was her
hometown. I quickly got the reputation as a “Bad” kid, which only further
fueled that pain and anger that was raging inside of me. I won’t go into all of
that but eventually it led to committing crimes and spending time in prison.
When I had a heart transforming experience with Jesus the process of being
healed began, and although I did all I could to restore some kind of healthy
relationship with my Dad it never really worked out the way I had hoped.
However, Jesus put many godly men into my life, and one in particular, Steve
Longenecker, who became instrumental in calling the boy that I was into
Manhood. I am so thankful for that process and for the Men that Jesus used
along the journey to heal me.
The reason that I am sharing this is because when I see my
friend’s teenage son, who has a reputation for being that “Bad” kid, I can look
in his eyes and see the same anger and fear that I had. Actually, when I go
into a prison or to The Foundry or even just to the Mall and I encounter “Bad”
Kids or “Bad” people or whatever label that we like to throw on them, I can see
that “THIS is really about THAT” and it breaks my heart. I also think that it
breaks the heart of Jesus. See, He sees deeper than what we see, and he is able
to pinpoint the “THAT” in our lives while we are only looking at the “THIS” ...
and I have learned that if we let Him deal with “THAT” (Whatever that may be... Rejection, Shame, Abuse,
Fear, Bitterness, Guilt..etc.) then the “THIS” will take care of itself. The
“Bad” kid that I am referencing here is also experiencing the pain of rejection
from his Dad. It is my opinion that he is not a bad kid at all. He is a hurting
kid, just like I was. What if this week when we see folks with problems, or
even see it in our own lives, we ask Jesus to show us His heart and look beyond
THIS to THAT and become a part of the healing process? That’s where I want to
be.

God Bless You! And Thank You for supporting Kairos!
