Kairos Strawberry Kobbler |
What's up guys,
This Christmas Season has been the most consistently busy
season we have ever experienced at Kairos. I am so thankful to each one of you
who not only grace the Kafe with your presence, but who also allow us into your
offices, homes, and churches through the Delicious Goodness that Kairos
Katering provides. And for all of you who will be inviting us to your Christmas
Tables this year through our “ready to pop in the oven” Christmas Menu. For me,
this is the only way to do it. I don’t know about ya’ll but by the time
Christmas Eve and Christmas Day get here the last thing I want to be doing is
cooking all day in the kitchen. I would much rather be spending time with
friends and family. Several years ago I was trying to think of a way we could
get Kairos into your homes without us having to work on Christmas... The end
result was this menu with Delicious Goodness prepared ready to pop in the oven.
It was a great thing for all of you but it became a double blessing for me
because that’s how I do Christmas Dinner with my family! Pickup will be
available all day Saturday. Call Denise 205.410.3220 or email denise@kairoskatering.com to get your orders in!
The Kairos Fish Taco has continued to bring rave reviews,
and The Baked Greek Tilapia is one of the best things I have ever eaten. The
thing about the Greek Fish is the smell of it when it first comes out of the
oven. It is out of this world, and I always think “I wish they were standing
back here so they could smell it straight from the oven!” It is definitely a
sensation for the taste buds and good for you as well! The Soup this week is
roasted tomato soup, and it definitely hits the spot on a cold day. The D.G.
Express is positively gaining quite the following in Birmingham, and one of the
things I love the most about it is that I can get really creative with the
food. Look for some new things this coming week... Turkey Stroganoff, Ham N
Dumplin’s, Collard Greens, Mac and Cheese, and a whole lot more! I am also
taking suggestions so if you have any ideas for us or have any desire to see
specific things feel free to e-mail me! I hope to see you this week!
The past few weeks have been some of the busiest I have ever
experienced. I am looking back wondering how I managed to get through them in
one piece. Thankfully I know how, and I want to share that with you guys. My
Pastor has been teaching a lot lately on something he calls “Listening Prayer”.
The whole gist of it is that when we are going through rough times or times of
crisis our tendency is to “pray harder”. His suggestion though was to listen
more than you talk. I have always held that what Jesus has to say to me about
any situation is way more important than what I have to say to Him, so this
teaching simply reinforced for me things that Jesus has already taught me. Simple.
But Powerful.
About the same time I was introduced to a book (by a very
special young lady) called “The Slight Edge” by Jeff Olson. In this book he
also teaches some very profound truths that almost make me feel stupid because
they are things I already know but just don’t practice well. His theory is that
it’s the little things that determine our overall well-being. The little things
that are so easy to do... and so easy not to do. I tend not to pay that much
attention to the small things because if I don’t do them today my life won’t be
wrecked, and if I do them today then I won’t suddenly be wildly successful.
However, over time these little things compound interest and they will
determine our success or failure. The Slight Edge. I would recommend this book
to any of you!!
Back to my original point. The Past several weeks have been
filled with so much work that it was impossible for me to try and take it in
all at once. I was forced to go it one day at a time or I would crumble under
the overwhelming weight of what looked impossible. During this time I began
listening very closely to Jesus, not just while I was in Church, not just
during my morning devotional, and not just at the end of the day before bed
when I would normally seek forgiveness and correction for whatever events the
day held. One of the Chief things He began to show me was how Dread is an
absolute killer. When faced with obstacles like this my tendency is to dread
everything, white-knuckle my way through it and say “Thank You Jesus” on the
other side. But this time something different happened. I invited Jesus into my
situations in real-time, and each time His still small voice whispered me
through it. Phenomenal. And I found out that all the little things that I spend
so much time dreading generally take me five to ten minutes to accomplish. This
is the Christmas Season, where we celebrate the Birth of Jesus... “Behold, the
virgin shall become pregnant and give birth to a Son, and they shall call His
name Emmanuel—which, when translated, means, God with us...” He is truly with
us at all times and through every situation. I encourage you to invite His
Peace and His Presence into every situation you find yourself encountering. God
Bless You! Thank You for Supporting Kairos, and have a wonderful week!!
James K Jones
All the days of the desponding and afflicted are made evil
[by anxious thoughts and forebodings], but he who has a glad heart has a
continual feast [regardless of circumstances]. (Proverbs 15:15 AMPLIFIED BIBLE)
