What’s Up Guys,
I hope that your week is starting out well. The past few
weeks have been a little rough for us but we believe that this week is going to
be a great one! I do have some news about our Gardendale Location. We have been
very happy to offer Lunch and Dinner at the Gardendale Kairos, but
unfortunately we are not generating enough business at night to justify having
a Dinner Shift. Our Lunch Crowd however is great, so starting this week our
hours will change up some in Gardendale. Monday through Thursday we will be
open from 11:00 a.m. till 5:00 p.m. On Friday nights we will open for a special
“once a week” Dinner, and on Sunday’s we will continue to do the Kountry
Buffet. This is not a decision that was made quickly on my part, and Kairos
Kafe Gardendale will continue to be able to provide Dinner for parties and
special events at all hours.
By streamlining our services I am excited because it will
enable us to regain focus on many parts of Kairos that I feel I have neglected.
Starting first we will revamp the Bakery here in Gardendale. It has a ton of
untapped potential and things that I am excited about, but I have been so
scattered over the last six months I haven’t been able to give it my full
attention. Visions of Sweet Tea Cupcakes, Bacon Cupcakes, Cashew Brittle,
Cookies and more come to the front of my mind, with some really cool stuff for
the upcoming Holidays!
The Katering arm of Kairos will be receiving a makeover as
well. We are looking over everything from the food to the services that we
provide to see how we can make the most impact on your taste buds and your
wallet. In the Works right now we have a plan to put Dinner on wheels for the
North of Town Dinnertime and to put Lunch on wheels for the Downtown/Southside
Lunchtime. We have most of the kinks worked out... we just have to decide what
to call it!
Be patient with us as we learn. Beginning a new business in
a new area almost always never works out how you planned. I have had some
discouragements over the past few months. But I learned a long time ago not to
let things get me down for too long. If I do then I’m headed for despair, and
after that depression. These three “D’s” have always got me if I don’t learn
how to get a handle on things starting with the first “D”. Just because I am
discouraged that is no reason to give up. I’ve even learned that even when good
things don’t work out then it just means that Jesus has a better plan for me.
If you are discouraged today I encourage you to look at the big picture. Encourage
me too if we travel in the same circles!
