What’s up Kairos Fans,
It has been a great week around here! There were a couple of times this week when we were all feeling overwhelmed with all the business and I was tempted to complain to myself… I immediately remembered that this was what we have prayed for Kairos Kafe to become, so instead of complaining I rejoiced! Thank you guys so much for making us a success!
The Hamburger Steaks went over so well last week that I have to run them on Special again this week! If you haven’t already tried one I encourage you to do so. They really are making an impact with you guys! Who could resist the delicious goodness of a hand made fresh ground beef Hamburger Steak grilled to perfection and smothered in a creamy white tomato gravy that is reminiscent of my childhood growing up in the small town of Phenix City Alabama. Another Special that we are running again this week is the Chicken and Dressing that’s named after my Mee-Maw, Gladys Whitaker… She always had a special way with her dressing and she shared her secret weapon with me when I was about 12 years old. I loved getting in the kitchen and cooking with Mee-Maw. She would take the most humble and simple ingredients and turn them into a feast! She never minded me pestering her when she was cooking, and she patiently answered each of my many questions. Mee-Maw believed it was important for a Man to know how to cook, clean, and wash clothes, and I am so thankful for the many things that she taught me that remain with me to this day. I am also happy to pass on her delicious secret recipe to you guys, and I am thrilled that you enjoy the Chicken and Dressing so much. I know it would make her proud!
These past few months have been a bit hectic for me as Kairos continues to grow by leaps and bounds and as we prepare for the opening of our second location. There are times when it seems as if I can’t find minutes in the day to get done with the things that I need to see happen. When this happens I often feel overwhelmed and don’t know what to do… so I begin using the phrase “I’m just stressed out”…
I have learned that I have to be particularly aware of how I am treating others when I am “stressed out” because many times I have bit off someone’s head and then apologized with… “I am so sorry… I was just stressed out…”
Lately though I have been convinced that I have to let go of that excuse… as a matter of fact I am going to do my best to try never to even use that phrase again because it affects my behavior towards people that I love and care about. During this time I am learning that above all else Jesus wants me to “Be Still and know that He is God”.
He alone is able to handle business when life gets crazy, and He alone can take me from Stress to Rest. God Bless You guys! Thank You for supporting Kairos, and have a wonderful week!
James K Jones
