What's up guys!
It has been an astounding week here at Kairos! Usually this time of the year seems to slow down a bit but we have been going full throttle! Remember that next week (July 4th thru July 8th) Kairos Kafe will be closed for the week so that my staff and I can all spend the holidays with out families and have a Vacation. We will reopen bright and early on Monday July 11th. So make plans this week to get your dose of Kairos or maybe even a double or triple dose! Take advantage of the Coupon this week too! It’s Bring a Friend to Kairos Week! On Me!
I am excited about the Specials this week. The Pimento Cheeseburger went over so good last week that I’m gonna have to run it again! I had a customer ask to see me about his burger last week, and I walked out into the Dining Room with a little trepidation because I thought he had a problem... he said “I have eaten Burgers all over this country, and I want you to know that was the best burger I have ever ate!” He repeated himself four times and just kept going on and on about how good it was! That really made my day. Since we have started hand making our burgers they have really taken off! The Fish is a summer time favorite, grilled Salmon with Cucumber Dill Sauce. The Veggie also has me very excited! My Dad and Stepmom gave me Guy Fieri’s Cookbook as an early Birthday Present and he is one of my favorite Chef’s... in it he has a recipe for a tortilla that is slathered in an onion mixture twelve high, cut into wedges and grilled... I got so excited reading the recipe that I had to come up with my own version that we are calling The Awesome Onion Stack! You guys are gonna Love it! The Kwick Hitter Menu this week also features something new... My Mom’s Spaghetti with Meatsauce Recipe that is covered in Parmesan and Mozzarella and Baked... Mmm ... there is nothing in this world that I love to eat more than my Momma’s Spaghetti. I hope you guys will enjoy it too!
For the past several weeks it has really been on my heart to ask God to show me a passage of scripture that I need to focus on, read, absorb, and learn to apply to my life. I got the feeling that it didn’t need to be too complicated because I have become aware that with me, a lot of times the things that I am missing are the things that are very simple. I tend to mystify things and I am not sure why... For instance, Jesus summed up the whole Bible, the Commandments, and The Kingdom of God by giving me a practical view... Love God with all my Heart. Love Others. Period. Boom! That is so simple, and yet so many times I complicate things by trying to add this or add that, or to learn this or learn that, but what it really boils down to is not all that other stuff...
Am I loving God with all my Heart?
Am I loving others?
I figured out that if the answer to either of those questions is “no” then somewhere my focus is wrong. God just wants me to love Him. Really? Sounds too simple... doesn’t He care about my performance, my to-do lists, and all the things I am getting done? None of that really matters if I am not loving Him and then taking that Love and giving it to other people... pretty simple stuff.
This week my lesson was where the Apostle Paul talked about us training as if we were running a race, and only one person wins. Train Hard. Run to Win. Immediately I got myself all hyped up about all the stuff I was gonna train myself to do... good things I think, but mid week it seemed like God stopped me in my plans and said “James, the number one thing you need to train yourself in is trusting me...”
Simple. But not always easy to do. I want to trust Him with everything, but it admit at times fear and worry overtake my mind and I don’t fully trust Him... Training in Trust. That’s what I need to learn. If you think about it later I would appreciate your prayers. May we all be a people who will not only train ourselves in Trusting God, but also take note of the simple ways that His plans for our lives come to pass. God Bless You Guys! I appreciate you. Thank you for supporting Kairos, and have a wonderful week!
James K Jones
