It has been a great week here at Kairos Kafe. We had a phenomenal Mother’s Day Lunch last Sunday and I also got the opportunity to meet a lot of you that I only know through e-mail. The comments that I received about the food were very encouraging and humbling at the same time. Thank you guys so much for loving the food at Kairos! Our mission statement is “...building relationships around food” and we do our best to practically live that out every day, but it just seems to mean so much more to me when I get so many comments about how good the food is... so many thanks to all of you!
Speaking of food, the Specials this week are filled with delicious goodness! The Kairos Chicken Divan has been my go to recipe for years, but sometimes I forget that I want you guys to experience it as well on a regular basis... it is so tasty dripping in a luxurious cream sauce with sautéed broccoli, mozzarella, and parmesan... it makes my mouth water just thinking about how it smells coming out of the oven piping hot! The Fish this week is also something to talk about... fresh salmon grilled to perfection, crispy on the inside and tender and juicy on the inside... the kicker though is the sauce it’s dressed up in... Lemon butter sauce with capers and sundried tomatoes... Mmm Mmm Good! The Veggie is sautéed Broccoli that tastes so good it made one broccoli-hater become a broccoli lover in a matter of minutes. It is a neat recipe and I love the unique way that it tastes coming right up out of the sauté pan!
The Southern Fried Broccoli is now on the lunch menu because of popular demand! When I don’t run it on special people seem disappointed that they can’t get it so I added it to the new lunch menu. Our Katering Menu also has a new look and some updates so pick one up the next time you are in or look it up at www.kairoskatering.com Kairos will also begin this week offering two choices for the Soup option as a side or as a Kwick-Hitter Choice! I love it that you guys love the soup... it is also one of my favorite things to make! The Kwick-Hitter menu also features one of our newest Ziti dishes, Pepperoni Baked Ziti along with BBQ Chicken Baked Ziti and Momma’s Cheesy Chicken Baked Ziti... Lots to choose from this week and it has also been declared “bring a friend to Kairos week” with the buy one get one free coupon. I do hope many of you will take advantage of it and bring someone who has never been here before.
The last couple of weeks for me have been filled with one thing to worry about after the other... I never wake up in the morning and decide “Today I will worry about things that I have no control over...” But, if I am not careful then all kinds of things will creep up on me and I will catch myself worrying about some of the simplest things...
I used to think that if I could just worry myself through the present crisis (real or imagined) then I would finally be okay and be able to live life free from all that... but then just as soon as the present situation was resolved... boom ... here comes one more thing that I need to worry about... it is an endless cycle for me if I don’t get a hold on it...
This week I made up my mind that no matter what comes my way, I am going to find a way to stay in the presence of Jesus and continually experience that “Peace that passes understanding”. What good is it to worry about stuff I can’t do anything about? The only thing it changes is my own attitude... for the worse! It makes simple tasks harder and joyful times and events miserable... so why not give all that up?
I believe that God let me in on a secret... when I am not worrying, then I am not in control. When my mind isn’t spinning with all the things I need to get done, when I’m not planning out each little thing I will get accomplished in 24 hours ... then I am not in control. Does that mean that control is the root of worry? I don’t know about everybody, but I’m pretty sure that’s what it is for me...
So what do I do? Jesus, what do I do?
“I have come that you may have and enjoy life to the fullest...”
I know. But that is not always my experience in real life.
“My Peace I give to you... in this world you will have trouble. Cheer up! I have overcome the world for you...”
So, what is it that I need to be worried about?
“Nothing. Trust me to do what you cannot do, follow me and listen when I ask you to participate in the process...”
Wow! That sounds like a dream life! That’s the kind of life that I want to live. Isn’t that the kind of life that everybody wants to live?? Carefree, full of Peace and Joy?? It doesn’t always sound practical, but it seems like that is something that God is trying to train me to do... and I am determined to learn it, no matter how long it takes.
May we all be a people who will come to embrace the presence of Jesus in new and practical ways...
I will leave you with something that has touched me that I recently read in my devotional...
“A Successful day is one in which you have stayed in touch with me, even if many things remain undone at the end of the day.” Jesus
Thank you for supporting Kairos! God Bless you and have a wonderful week!
