Turnip Green Soup...BBQ Slaw...and the Awesome Folks...

What’s up Kairos Fans,

This has been an awesome week at Kairos! Last Sunday we had the honor of Katering The Foundry’s 40th Anniversary Celebration and we all had an awesome time. As I was listening to Pastor Bill Heintz tell us how he came to Bessemer to start what was then called “The City of Hope” it struck me how awesome it is that we get to share in so many peoples “Special” moments...and that is what the word “Kairos” means... God’s Special Moment! Thank you all for helping make this a reality for all of us!

The Special for this week is one that some of you have been clamoring for recently... The Kairos Pork Chop Sandwich... I have never had anything but rave reviews on this one, and I understand why... how can you resist a hand cut boneless pork chop seared to perfection and topped with Honeymustard-BBQ Slaw and a Grilled Green Tomato? The Fish is one of the first seafood recipes I ever made up on my own... pan seared fresh Tilapia with White Wine Cilantro Sauce... and the Soup is an interesting spin I’ve taken on a Paula Deen recipe called Turnip Green Soup. The Kwick Hitter Menu continues to be a success. This week it will feature Granny’s Poppyseed Chicken Kasserole, Momma’s Cheesy Chicken Baked Ziti, Our Signature BBQ Chicken Baked Ziti, and Linda’s Cheese Baked Ziti... snap this menu up if you are in a hurry or on the run!

The last several months I have been noticing something very neat happening to us here at Kairos... I have been sent some absolutely incredible people to work alongside us and take over some very special aspects of this business... I was sitting back the other day pondering on this and it just amazed me...

John Maxwell (I am one of his Students) teaches a leadership principle that he calls “The Law of The Inner Circle”... in this he says that a Leader’s success is made up primarily by those who are closest to him... I have been blessed with a very effective inner circle since the inception of Kairos back in 2004... but over the past year it has grown into something very beautiful and humbling to me...

My Pastor, Steve Longenecker, both my Friend and Mentor, has influenced my life in ways that I have no room to write... and he has always been there for me. Along with him, my best friend Jeremy, and Lenora (our Dining Room Director) we launched the Vision that God gave me for Kairos Kafe. Shortly thereafter, Investors came in ... about 25 of them who are mainly my friends and family and they helped us carry the Vision to completion. As we grew, we saw the need to add people to our Board, so again my inner circle widened as we added investors, friends, and even one of our customers to the Board to help us steer the direction of Kairos.

Over the past year though I have truly been overwhelmed with folks coming along who specialize in areas that we need help in... through a weird scenario I ended up with Adam Tice (http://www.adamticecpa.com/) as my accountant, and he is not only a CPA, he shares the same Vision that I have to grow Kairos and has been a constant source of encouragement and assistance to me. Then, a few months ago a friend of mine, Tim Busbee ( Tim Busbee), came along and took over all of our Media/Tech stuff and he has done such an awesome job designing our Logo, streamlining the new e-mail, and he has new websites and menus on the way... And he’s no amateur! His stuff is top notch and I am so excited about the changes he is making...even more excited that I don’t have to do it anymore!! Then this kid came along and posted a picture on Facebook of our Chicken Florentine that was the most beautiful picture of my food that I have ever seen... and he ended up coming along and taking all of our pictures for the new website (His name is Morgan Reaves ... awesome photographer)http://www.urbansilversalt.com/

Then there is my Staff... They are greater than great and that circle continues to grow as well... through all of this I am learning that the saying is true that it is impossible to build anything of significance without an awesome team, and a remarkable inner circle. I haven’t always believed that... I used to think I could do it all, but it has been very refreshing to see how God works things out when I relax and let Him handle his business.

"The moment you definitely commit yourself, then Providence moves too. All sorts of things occur to help you that would never have otherwise occurred. A whole stream of things takes place, such as unforeseen happenings or meeting certain people or being provided material assistance which you never dreamt would come your way." ~W.H. Murray

May we all tap into the potential that God has placed within each of us, embrace each other’s unique gifts and talents, and allow God to Rock and Roll in our lives! God Bless You, have an awesome week, and thank you for supporting Kairos!
