Happy New Year Kairos Fans,
Many thanks to all of you for an outstanding 2010 and I look forward to building meaningful relationships around great food with each of you in 2011!
I have just had the greatest Christmas and New Year's Holiday that I can remember in recent years. I spent a lot of quality time with my family in Phenix City and with my Grandmother and family in Atlanta. I was actually gone for seven days... I think that is a record for me...
I hope that the old saying "out of sight, out of mind" doesn't apply to our being closed last week. I am hoping for an "Absence makes the heart grow fonder" kind of reaction from you guys! In any case, thanks so much for understanding my Staff's need to recoup after a record November and December.
The Specials for this week are some of your favorites...Cheeseburger Baked Ziti is both comforting and delicious...who ever thought about putting a cheeseburger into a Pasta Dish anyways? Well, I figured out a long time ago that if I'm never willing to try new things and change the way I think then I am never gonna get anything new...sometimes you try stuff and it just doesn't work out...other times you try things and you hit a homerun! I think I did with this dish that combines the comfort of a good lasagna with all the flavors of a Juicy Cheeseburger...Mmmm...
The Fish is more on the healthy side but is not lacking in delicious goodness... fresh marinated Tilapia grilled and smothered with our lemon butter sauce (one of my favorite sauces) and then sprinkled with juicy sundried tomatoes and a few salty capers...another Mmmm...
For my New Year's Dinner we didn't eat the Traditional Greens & Blackeyed Peas...instead My Mom came through with the goods by making me her Chili, which is one of my favorite things to eat. I told her "I know my Momma loves me because she makes me the best Chili!" That inspired me to make it for you guys next week, so that'll be the Soup.
The question on Facebook yesterday and today seemed to be flooded with the"What's your New Year's Resolution?" question...I started to answer and say "I don't have one" but I didn't want to be a wet blanket on their fun so I didn't say anything (I'm learning that sometimes that's wise) Then last night I was spending time with a friend, and she was curious about my New Year's Resolution. I had to give an answer because she was asking me outright.
I explained to her that I didn't have one because 30 times out of 30, when I make a New Year's Resolution I don't ever end up keeping it anyways so what's the point? Just so I can say I had one? Now I'm not downing you if you do make one and keep it, I have friends who have made them, stuck with them, and are better off for it. What I am saying is that I usually don't keep mine so I decided to change my perspective.
Generally when I make a New Year's Resolution it's to change something that I want to change or to do something that I want to do...This year I sensed in my heart that I needed to make a different approach...instead of deciding what I want, why not ask God what He wants, because when He designs something for me it always comes to pass even if it's a hard thing.
That really got me excited and I have spent the last few days asking God to give me a Fresh Vision for 2011! I can't wait to Write the Vision that He is giving me!
I encourage all of you to join me in this endeavor. Add it to your New Year's Resolution, seek God, and most importantly, write it down. There is something powerful that happens when we wait on Him to speak to us and then write down His words... I'm telling you, it will rock your world! I can't wait to tell you all about what 2011 holds for Kairos!
I declare that 2011 will be a year of Victory for all of us! Let's make the decision to let go of the failures and the successes of the past and blaze an awesome trail into the future! I have found out that the only thing that ever really stops me is myself. As one of my favorite teachers, John Maxwell, says "Get Over Yourself...Everybody Else Has"...
God Bless you and your families in 2011! I look forward to all that this year will hold for each of us. Thank you for being a part of Kairos and supporting our dream. Have a great week!
