What's up guys,
Well, we are about to wrap up Thanksgiving 2010 here at Kairos and it has been the most awesome one yet! Thank you to all of you for making us a huge success.
Remember Kairos will be closed Thanksgiving Day and Friday 11/26. I hope you all have a wonderful Holiday and come back relaxed and ready for the hectic month of December!
During the past year its seems as if God has really been teaching me how to be grateful and thankful at all times. It has been an interesting journey. I want to share a few of these things with you as you prepare for Thanksgiving, and what if we were to make Thanksgiving a lifestyle instead of a yearly event? I think we would not only change our personal lives, but we could also change the world! Imagine that!
Thanksgiving
I have found that if I am frustrated or overwhelmed or even angry the root cause usually goes back to two things.Trust and Thanksgiving. I have learned to ask myself questions when I am frustrated... Am I trusting God to be in charge of my life? Am I thankful for what I already have and the people that are in my life? If the answer to either of these is no then I am generally highly frustrated. Sounds pretty simple, but it's really been working for me...
Attitudes that cause me to be ungrateful
1)When I am looking for perfect in an imperfect world...God never promised me he would give me a perfect life. How many of us destroy a perfectly good___ (you fill in the blank) just because it's not a perfect____.
“Have no fear of perfection - you'll never reach it.” Salvador Dalí
2) When I forget where I've come from... I should never forget where I've come from and how far God has brought me...when I do forget it makes me proud and arrogant. When I remember it makes my heart flood with gratitude. "God done brought me from a mighty long way"
3) When I focus on my own imperfections or what I don't have instead of Focusing on the perfection of Jesus... I'm Okay and I am on my way! I may not be where I need to be, but Thank God I'm not where I was.
4) When I am Critical Of Others... including people who are not following Jesus. All men are created in the image of God and have great value.
Too many times we use the Scriptures as a weapon against others but I believe that God designed them to be a mirror...That is what the scriptures are really for, to show us ourselves. The Apostle James described the Word of God as a mirror...it shows us where we are, and sometimes that hurts. Too many times we take the scriptures and try to use them as a weapon against other folks, but God designed His Word to change us... it's interesting what I can find out when I get my focus off of everybody else and just simply look in the mirror...The mirror is for me.
5) When I am holding a grudge against someone and refusing to extend the Grace that God has given my imperfect self onto the imperfect folks around me... If I do that then I am really ungrateful for His Grace.
6) When I stop being connected to others in healthy relationships...(a relationship with God involves others....theres no other way)
7) When I am not reaching out to others and doing random acts of kindness.
8) When I compare my self to others and think that they have it better than me.
9) When I fail to recognize that there are hurting people out there who have it much worse than me.
10) When I lose sight of The Vision of the Potential that God has placed in me to complete my destiny and all the dreams He has for me.
The Question: What are some things that cause you to be ungrateful? What questions can we ask ourselves, and God, to help us overcome that?
Colossians 3:15 (New King James Version)
And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful.
God Bless You, Have a Great Weekend, and Roll Tide!
